The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department submits information about sex or violent offenders residing, working, or attending school in Floyd County to the Indiana Sheriff’s Sex Offender Registry.
This information is updated in real time. As soon as an offender is entered into the system the public can view the information. The Floyd County Sex Offender Registry provides you with the option of receiving e-mail notifications whenever an offender moves within a one mile radius of an address that is sensitive to you.
We strongly urge the public to take advantage of this free service. You can register as many addresses as you wish. If you have any questions or information about non compliant sex offenders, contact the Sex Offender Cooridnator at the information below:

SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY :: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Can a person convicted of child molesting be around a school or other places where children gather?
A: The Indiana Sex or Violent Offender Registration Form (Revision 6/October 2013) - which must be initialed and signed by every registered sex offender in Indiana - clearly states in paragraphs 14, 15 and 16 that Sexually Violent Predators and Offenders Against Children are PROHIBITED from residing within 1000’ of school property, youth program centers or public parks. They CANNOT establish their residence within one mile of their victim and they CANNOT work for pay or as a volunteer on school property, at a youth program center or at a public park. These restrictions are backed up by Indiana Criminal Code IC 35-42-4-10 and IC 35-42-4-11 which provide criminal penalties for sex offenders convicted of these violations. Current Indiana Law does not prohibit a Sexually Violent Predator or an Offender Against Children from visiting these places or locations near them.
Q: Can a person convicted of child molesting be employed in a job where they work around children?
A: Sex offenders designated by Indiana as Sexually Violent Predators or Offenders Against Children are prohibited from being employed or volunteering at schools, youth program centers and public parks. Current Indiana law does not prohibit Sexually Violent Predators or Offenders Against Children from working in construction, remodeling, fast food, retail nor other employment where children may be present except as listed above.
