The New Albany City / County Building is a secured building and the general public will have to enter on Hauss Square at our security checkpoint. The purpose of this program is to provide a safe and secure facility for all visitors, staff, and elected officials by eliminating potential contraband and weapons.

 

Everyone is subject to search and the following items are deemed contraband: Guns (Regardless of Permit), Knives, Sharp Objects, Aerosol Sprays, Striking Weapons, Tasers, and anything else deemed contraband by our screeners.

 

These items will not be held by our staff. You may return legal items to your vehicle or if we hold on to them they will become confiscated property and sold at auction annually.

 

PLEASE ALLOW AN EXTRA 10-15 MINUTES WHEN ARRIVING TO COURT

Please note that drinks and food items are not permitted in the court rooms. You will be asked to discard these items.
