The Floyd County Sheriff's Department has several employment opportunities that include patrol officers, communications center, corrections officers, nurses, civil process officers, criminal investigations, and other department positions.
General Requirements for all positions:

Must be a citizen of the United States.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Must have a high school diploma or its equivalency as accepted by the Superintendent of Public Instructions for the State of Indiana.

Must not have a record of conviction of felony or any crime involving moral turpitude
-
Must have a non-negligent automobile accident record.

Must have a valid Driver's License.
-
Must have a verifiable good record of previous employment.
-
Must have a good credit rating.
-
Must be in sound mental and physical health.

Must be willing to appear for a Department interview by staff officers.

Must be willing to submit to a thorough character investigation by the Department
-
Must be willing to work a revolving shift schedule, if required.

Must submit to being fingerprinted.

Pass a Polygraph Examination.

MERIT POLICE OFFICERS ONLY / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must complete Written Test. You must register and complete the written test prior to June 29th, 2015. The EMPCO test information and testing locations are available online at https://www.empco.net/ind/ There is a fee to take this exam. Testing dates are available from April 20th, 2015 to June 29th, 2015.

Must pass a Physical Fitness Test (ILEA Basic Course Exit Standards) We would like to provide advanced notice that our Physical Agility Test will be held on Saturday July 18th, 2015 at Highland Hills Middle School in Floyd Knobs, Indiana.The test will start promptly at 8:00am and you are required to bring photo identification. You will need to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for physical exercise and weather conditions. The address for Highland Hills Middle School is 3492 Edwardsville Galena Road, Georgetown, Indiana 47122. The agility test that will be administered is the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Basic Course Exit Standards as listed below:
Vertical Jump - 16 Inches
One Minute Situps: 29
300 Meter Run: 71 seconds
Maximum Push-ups: 25
1.5 Mile Run: 16 Minutes, 28 Seconds

Must complete a Merit Board Oral Interview.

Must agree to a thorough physical examination by a physician designated by the Department.

Must be a resident of Floyd County on the date or employment or be willing to become a Floyd County resident within 1 year of appointment.

Must complete all required background investigation components and a Polygraph Examination.
