JAIL INFORMATION

Floyd County Corrections and Jail Division provides officers and staffing for the Floyd County Courts and Jail. The Floyd County Jail is a 234 bed facility that houses pre-trial detainees and some convicted state offenders. We currently hold Federal, ICE, and Military holds as well. Comprised with Corrections Officers, Medical Staffing, and Civil Process Officers, Floyd County Corrections is one of the largest divisions of the Floyd County Sheriff's Department.

  • We will strive to be a division of trained professional officers that serve our community with integrity while providing a structured environment for the inmates that we house.

  • We will set goals with our inmate population including deterrence repeat offenders in our community by offering valuable programs during incarceration and life application skill courses. This includes partnering with other community & county programs to gain a better understanding of inmate population.

  • We will have ZERO-TOLERANCE for inmate violence in our facility and work to prosecute those that cause this violence.

  • We will work with all local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to gather intelligence from our inmate population to assist in their criminal cases and prevent future illegal activity. This includes gathering, investigating, and storing previous inmate information to help capture or convict those that continue to break the law or elude law enforcement.

  • We will work in partnership with the Floyd County Courts and other divisions to maintain a safe environment all visitors in the courts and county building.

  • We will provide a SAFE and SECURE environment for all staff, inmates, and visitors in our facility.

CLERGY VISITS

Clergy Registration

Floyd County Inmates may recieve one on one clergy visits from approved ministry volunteers at the scheduled times below. In order to be an approved clergy volunteer you must complete our online orientation and application. You will be contacted by a jail administrator when you have been approved. All clergy members are required to have a background investigation conducted and complete our orientation process.

INMATE VISITATION

Visitation Registration

Participation in video-visitation is a privilege, not a right. Both vistor and inmate are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate fashion at all times during a video visit. Be sure to review the rules and procedures below.

 

All use of the video visit system (friends, family, and inmate) is recorded and subject to monitoring by all Floyd County Sheriff's Department employees. Your use of the video visitation system constitutes consent to any and all recordings and monitoring.

 

AT-HOME VISITATION HOURS/INFORMATION

All visitors must schedule an appointment at least 24 hours in advance and must pay for each scheduled session prior to the visit taking place. All schedule visits are non-refundable. 

 

At-Home Visitation Hours

VIOLATORS OF THE FOLLOWING RULES BE PERMANENTLY BARRED FROM ON AND OFF SITE VISITS

 

A) Tight fitting, provocative, or see through clothing is prohibited.

B) Nudity, partial nudity, sexual acts, simulated sexual acts, or depiction thereof is prohibited.

C) Security threat group or gang activity, signage, symbols, or other representation of any such group is prohibited.

D) Any illegal activity, conspiracy to commit an illegal act, or depiction thereof is prohibited.

 

ON-SITE VISITATION HOURS/INFORMATION

Each inmate in the Floyd County Jail is entitled to 1-free (30 minute) visit per month (MUST BE DONE ON-SITE). Inmate's free visits are scheduled by availability. (Saturday and Sunday ONLY). The system will notify the visiting party of cancellations or changes via email. The system will also notify if the inmate's 1-free (30 minute) visit per month has been used or is already scheduled by giving a message of not available.

 

At the time of scheduling, the family member/friend must be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Inmate Legal Name or Jail ID Number

  • Visitor's Official Picture ID (Driver's License, School ID if minor)

  • Visitor's Home Address

  • Visitor's Telephone Number

  • Visitor's Email Address

ALL VISITORS MUST BRING AN ID TO THE FACILITY WHEN THE SCHEDULED VISIT TAKES PLACE VISITS WILL PROMPTLY START, PLEASE ARRIVE A FEW MINUTES EARLY

 

  1. On-site visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by the visitor. Visits can be scheduled online by clicking the yellow button below or scheduled in the front lobby of the Floyd County Sheriff's Department.

  2. Visitors must present a valid government issued ID.

  3. On-Site visitors are subject to search of person.

  4. The duration of each visit is 30 minutes. Each inmate is permitted 1 free (30 minute) visit per month.

  5. No more than 3 visitors at a a time, all must register at the same time when original visit is scheduled.

  6. All visits are recorded and subject to electronic monitoring by the Floyd County Jail Staff.

  7. Every visitor that scheduled their visit in advance must show up at least 15 minutes prior to the visit starting and no more than 30 minutes proir to the visit starting. Visitors who arrive late will not be allowed to visit on that day and will have to reschedule for the following month.

  8. Violators of 8-A through 8-D will be permanently barred on and off site visit A) Tight fitting, provocative, or see through clothing is prohibited.   9. Visitors who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs are subject to have their visit cancelled, barred from visiting in the future and subject to arrest.

  10. During the visit, the visitor is required to stay seated at the visitation teriminal. If the visitor leaves the terminal, the visit will be terminated.

  11. Visitor under the  age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  12. Visitors may only bring their idenitification and car keys into the vistitaion area. No purses, diaper bags, briefcases, etc. Cellular phones, cameras and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited and will result in the visiting privileges being revoked.

  13. Loud talking or any type of behavior will not be permitted.

  14. Defacing or damaging the visitation terminal will result in criminal prosecution.

  15. If you experience a problem with the audio or video reception during your visit, you are required to notify Corrections Staff.

 

THE FLOYD COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DENY, CANCEL, OR TERMINATE A VIDEO VISIT PRIOR TO OR DURING A VIDEO SESSION BASED UPON VISITOR OR INMATE MISCONDUCT. THE FLOYD COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT ALSO RESERVES THE RIGHT TO RESTRICT A VISITOR FROM PARTICIPATING IN ALL FUTURE USE OF THE SYSTEM ON OR OFF SITE.

PROPERTY PICKUP

 

Inmates may release property items during the scheduled times below. You must bring a valid state ID to pick up items. Inmate may refuse to release items in their property at their discretion, unless directed by court order.

 

MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY

6:00PM - 9:00PM

 

Exception:

Inmates that are transferred to the Indiana Department of Corrections will be given the opportunity to list 2 different parties to leave property for pickup after they are transferred. IDOC does not accept any property items. Once the inmate is transferred our staff will attempt to make contact with the listed parties and arrange pickup within 48 Hours.

 

COMMISSARY

Floyd County Inmates can receive commissary payments two ways:

 

DROP-OFF

You can drop off CASH at our front lobby window Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (Closed for Lunch) and Saturdays during visitation hours.

 

ONLINE

You can make a credit or debit card payment online at the yellow button below. (There is a service fee with this method) This link will take you to our Commissary Provider, Tiger Accounting, to arrange this payment.

BOND INFORMATION

 

Types of Bond Payments

 

COURT CASH BOND:     

10% must be paid to in the Clerk’s Office (Hours are 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday - Friday) Bond may be paid to the Floyd County Sheriff if the Floyd County Clerk’s Office is closed.

 

SURETY:                            

10 % of bond must be paid to a registered bonding agent. Bondable at anytime.

 

CASH ONLY:                      

Full Amount must be paid to Clerk’s Office or the Floyd County Sheriff as an agent of the Floyd County Clerk.

 

THE FLOYD COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FLOYD COUNTY CLERKS OFFICE WILL BE ACCEPTING COURT CASH BOND PAYMENTS AFTER-HOURS AND ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.

 

WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT THESE PAYMENTS WHEN THE FLOYD COUNTY CLERKS OFFICE IS CLOSED.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

  • WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT CASH AND CREDIT CARD (7% Fee) AND WE CAN NOT MAKE CHANGE. NO COINS ACCEPTED.

  • YOU MUST BRING EXACT PAYMENT IN CASH.

  • A VALID GOVERNMENT ID IS REQUIRED FOR THE PERSON PROVIDING FUNDS OR DEEMED THE PAYEE.

  • THE PAYEE MUST PROVIDE ALL INFORMATION REQUIRED BY PROCEDURE.

  • ANY PAYMENT OVER $10,000 REQUIRES TAX FORM 8300

INMATE MAIL

Floyd County Inmates may receive mail on a daily basis while incarcerated as long as it meets the criteria of the policies and procedures as listed below: ALL MAIL IS SUBJECT TO SEARCH. The inmate will receive the return address from the letter and they will be notified in writing if anything is discarded as contraband from the sent mail according to policy.

Inmates may not receive the following types of materials according to policies: Lewd or Graphic Content / Photos, newspaper, magazine materials, blank paper, money, gang related materials, staples, paperclips, stickers, metal, plastic, Polaroid pictures, or ANYTHING else deemed contraband or violating the policies and procedures of the Floyd County Jail or the US Postmaster General.

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION

Volunteer Registration

Floyd County Jail hosts several volunteer programs for our inmate population. If you are a volunteer for these programs you may register online.

 

You will be contacted by a jail administrator or your program host when you have been approved. All volunteers are required to have a background investigation conducted and complete our orientation process.
